The first domestic and national producer under DMO Technocatalog was Karmasis.
On September 7, 2017, with the aim of promoting domestic production in public institutions and organizations in Turkey, the State Materials Office launched Technocatalog, which aims to support entirely domestic and national production.
What is Tekno Katalog?
Tekno Katalog is a special sales channel that enables entrepreneurs operating in Technology Development Zones to sell their products to the public through the State Materials Office.
This project was initiated by a small team at the State Materials Office who were dedicated to this cause. Today, this project will demonstrate how much of the public sector’s needs can be met with domestic production and will contribute to the widespread use of domestic and national production in Turkey.
Domestic producers who benefit from state incentives in R&D zones have faced and continue to face serious challenges in positioning their products in government institutions once the state approves their incentive projects to transform them into products.
Before foreign products are positioned in institutions, local productions must be reviewed and their suitability determined. Why aren’t we keeping our money in our own country when we can produce it ourselves? Why are we standing still with imported products instead of institutionalizing ourselves by supporting our own producers? We, as local producers, want to compete with each other.
If the government supports local production, it alone cannot solve the puzzle. We should all step up, starting with public institutions and including the private sector. As the demand for local production increases, capacity will increase.
Karmasis, which has achieved many firsts in the field of cyber security in Turkey, has been a pioneer of domestic and national production for years, and today it has become the first local and national company to be positioned in Tekno Katalog, leading another first.
What are the Advantages of Tekno Katalog for the Public Sector?
When public institutions turn to domestic production, at the end of the first year, a picture will emerge showing how much of the public spending remained in the country with the decrease in imports. Most importantly, we will be able to observe how much the costs have decreased.
By supporting domestic products that are produced for their own country, public institutions will have contributed to the development of the domestic industry. Tekno Katalog products will provide a price advantage of 4% for public institutions compared to the products listed in the general catalog.
